I’m a mom, a wife, a business owner, a daughter, coffee addict, dog lover, a creative, and a mess maker. I absolutely love my work and I can’t imagine doing anything else with my life. Sometimes it’s chaotic being a one (wo)man show, but it’s always worth it. If you have read much of anything else here, you’ve noticed that love is a big theme in my work. My own life’s experiences, passions, and family is the central theme of all that I do.
I’ve been a full-time photographer since 2009. Prior to opening Life Art Photographs, I spent 14 years in marketing, human resources, and benefits positions. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Business, an Associates degree in general studies, part of a graphic design degree and part of an MBA. My photography education began locally with classes at DMACC and the Art Center, and has taken me across the country for specialized workshops with various industry leaders. Needless to say, I’m a big believer in education and it took me a while to find my path. I have a passion for images, branding, identity, and marketing. The path I have been on for the past 20 years has made me uniquely qualified to tell visual stories in the way that I do.
My studio is in Valley Junction, in West Des Moines. After moving around to different photography studios in Des Moines over the past five or so years I can finally say I’ve found my spot. I feel inspired, creative, and focused there and I love to have clients in for sessions, meetings and gallery reveals.
My home is in Norwalk, with my husand, two kids, and two boston terriers. I grew up in Des Moines, and it’s pretty safe to say I love it here. I’m an Iowa girl at heart!
In addition to scratching my own creative itch with photography, I’m also passionate about giving back to the future of our local photography community and am a co-owner of Wheelhouse Studio, a local photography studio that offers membership, mentoring, and education to other local photographers. Wheelhouse Studio also offers wedding photography, videography, and wedding planning services. If you're interested in learning more about Wheelhouse, go check it out.
